Second Principal's Message of the 2019/20 School Year!

October 8th, 2019
Happy 34th Day of School!

Time is flying!  The cool feel of Fall mornings are upon as we move through the daily journey of this place we call school, this place we call home, this place we call family. So glad we are all on this great adventure together!

So far we have experienced our Back To School Picnic, Book Fair, and Bike To School Day!
Our Del Mar Safety Patrol is visibly assisting and protecting our students each morning!  They are the leaders of the future!

The Del Mar Home and School Club is humming along with new as well as long time members! They are working hard to support all of our needs as well as to provide us all with a multitude of multi-cultural experiences!!!

Upcoming Del Mar events include this week's STEAM=Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math Night! I hope you will be able to join us for a unique evening of family play time as you conquer interesting challenges together!  Thursday, 5:45-7:30! Pizza slices at 5:45 and the beginning of the event at 6:00!.

The next event will be our annual Dia De Los Muertos family gathering! This will take place on October 24th from 5:30-7:30. This will be a marvelous cultural event that combines our teachers leading learning activities with native dancers, and incredible authentic food!

Also of importance, is attendance!!! Such a big part of student success is based upon attendance! Being at school each day =Student Success! There are many losses when a student misses even a day of instruction. Your student loses learning and your school loses $55.00 each day. We keep the doors open, the learning happening, and the lights on, with the funding we receive for attendance. We are able to offer extra music, P.E, and art, as well as an awesome education, through the funds we receive for each day. Recently we had a day of 27 absences. This meant a loss of $1,430.00 that would have been used to support learning all across our school. I really understand that illness plays a part in this......However, you can help in the following ways:
*If your child does not have a fever and feels a bit under the weather, please send them to school.

*If your child has an appointment during school hours, please bring them to school before their appointment or after their appointment. We will still receive credit this way!

*Please try to take your vacations in alignment with the school's holiday schedule. If you are going on vacation during a school day, bring your child to school while you pack! We will still get credit!!!

Thank you for reading this! We want to do our very best for your student! Please be a part of our Attendance Team by ensuring that your student is here everyday when they are not ill!!!
